Leonard is the son of NAME Kerberos and Drakone Slaughter. He grew up without knowing his father, and believing he had died while waging war under the Order's banner. It was that story that made Leo want to get into the Order Caste, and it was a lie. He was fatally injured during the first battle he participated in as a spearman. His mother had him taken to a secluded cave, where she took off the amulet he has worn constantly since hitting puberty. Sensing that the body was in danger, his instincts kicked in: forcing him into his first change from man to dragon. His mother had kept it a secret from him because the Kerberos family are notorious dragon slayers, with many of their homes decorated by dragon skulls etc, and she didn't want her son (or herself) to be persecuted by the rest of their family because of her secret. Discovering he was a dragon after growing up being taught how to kill them (among other things) was world rocking for the young Leo, who went to his commanding officer and got the time off he needed to figure things out. He used the time to get used to being in his dragon form, but was still clumsy when he started on his journey to find his father. Using information grudgingly given to him by his mother, Leo found his way to Drake's territory. There was a brief stand off between the two dragons before Leo proved to Drake that he was his son, who he'd been led to believe was dead. When Leo finally returned to the human world, he gave up the family tradition of going into the Order Caste and becoming a Knight or better. Instead, he switched to the Death Caste, where he trained to be an assassin.
